Finding building materials online easier than ever

Building materials supplier Travis Perkins set out in 2013 to find a solution to improve integration and data quality. Data was distinctly siloed and not maintained or validated in any consistent way—relying on assorted employees and suppliers to enter product information resulted in incomplete and inconsistent details. To improve data quality, the company chose Talend Data Quality based on its flexibility, easy-to-use interface and open source nature. Talend was integrated with the company’s product information management (PIM) tool to provide standardization, validation and normalization of product data. Since implementing Talend and making all product descriptions consistent, Travis Perkins has seen a 30 percent increase in sales.

With Talend Big Data, Travis Perkins has built a data lake which consists of many types of data: products, transactions, customers, suppliers and third parties information. Finally the group is using Talend MDM for the Group Customer Master Data and Data Prep to promote self-service data manipulation for Business Users. Key areas of business now run on AWS and Google.
